George Manuel Tsihlas of Philadelphia, PA, died on February 7, 2021, at 88. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Effie (Karivalis). He was a loving father to Marietta (Margie) and Stefanos Kotridis, Virginia (Gina), and John Varley. He was a proud papou to his grandchildren Maria Lieberman (Josh), John Varley (Amy), Stephanie Maslanik (Steve), Christina Kotridis (Steve), and also his great-grandchildren Logan and Willow Lieberman.
George was a US Navy veteran who served his country honorably during the Korean War.
George was the founding proprietor of Towne Pizza at 19th and Pine St. in Philadelphia from 1967-1994. The restaurant was recognized multiple times for best pizza and hoagies in Philadelphia magazine during these years.
He was a proud member of St. George Cathedral throughout his life. He served tirelessly as a board member and president for multiple years. He was a co-founder of the annual church festival and Friday lunches, which provided monetary support to the church.

His funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 256 South 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
