Cherry Hill, NJ – The GOYA chapters from all across the Philadelphia area came out to make gift baskets for America’s wounded soldiers. The 100 gift baskets are being delivered on Monday to the Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland.
On Saturday morning, some 100 GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America) members came into the basement of St. Thomas church and went straight to work, filling up baskets and shrink wrapping gifts for American soldiers. Throughout the day, the kids worked in groups then broke for lunch before starting up again with their packing.
25 of the gift baskets will be shipped to Fort Gordon in Georgia and distributed to families for Thanksgiving day.
Father Bratsinakis of St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church thanked the GOYAs and called them a flame of fire, for their speedy effort. Before concluding the GOYA’s posed for a group shot, which was followed by a late donation from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Elkins Park.
