Warrington, PA – The results are in, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” is a smash amongst Greeks. A special screening of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2”, drew more than 180 parishioners from Annunciation Greek Orthodox church of Elkins Park, The advanced screening was featured at the Regal Warrington Crossing. The event proceeds benefited the ministries of the Ladies Philoptochos ‘Nausica’ and the Annunciation Church Capital Campaign.
Scheduled to be released on March 25th (ironically – Greek Independence Day), this is the follow-up or sequel to “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. This time, following the marriage, parenting and marriage is becoming tougher and tougher for Toula (Nia Vardalos) and her husband Ian. Not only has their relationship lost some of its spark, but they’re also dealing with a rebellious teenage daughter who clashes with Greek traditions. On top of that, Toula must contend with aging parents and the endless needs of cousins and friends. When a shocking family secret comes to light, the entire Portokalos clan makes plans to come together for an even bigger wedding than before.
If you’re a fan of the first, you’ll love the second. The Greek community of Elkins Park sure did. With flags waving inside the theatre, they filled the room in support of the film. When the film concluded, smiles and laughs could be heard. “I felt a cultural connection” and “It was better than the first”, fans yelled as they exited the theatre.
It now has the stamp of approval from the Greeks, so it’s a must see. Check out times and listings in your area.
