A major gift from James and Nike Lagos, longtime supporters of the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF), was recently announced in Washington. The $751,000 donation comes from the proceeds of a property sale and marks a significant moment for the organization.

James Lagos, who serves as Chairman of the American Hellenic Institute, and his wife Nike have a long history with AHIF. Their contribution is described by the organization as a boost for AHIF’s efforts to advance policy priorities, expand educational programs, and promote Hellenic values not only in Washington, but also across the Greek American community.

“Jim and Nike have been treasured members of the AHIF family for many decades,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis. “This extraordinary gift is a reflection of their deep belief in our work and their love for the Hellenic ideals we strive to uphold. We are moved by their generosity and proud to have earned their trust and support in such a meaningful way.”

AHIF Chairman Leon Andris echoed this sentiment, calling the donation “a lasting expression of faith in our shared mission,” and highlighting the ongoing impact of the Lagos family’s involvement in the organization.

Founded in 1975, the American Hellenic Institute Foundation is the first “think tank” devoted exclusively to issues affecting the Greek American community. The Lagos family’s gift is expected to support AHIF’s educational and advocacy work for years to come.
