Beloved son, brother, and uncle, Omiros ‘Rome’ Demetrios Zacharatos of Broomall, Pennsylvania, age 49, fell asleep to the Lord on December 29, 2019. Omiros fought a brave battle with Glioblastoma, and we thank everyone for their support of him and our family during this last year.
Omiros was the eldest son of Antonios and Niki Zacharatos. Born and raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Omiros was a graduate of Upper Darby High School Class of ‘89. A skilled electrician, he enjoyed working with his fellow colleagues from Local 98 throughout Philadelphia. He often spoke of his friends on the job and the interesting places he found himself in, such as modern high rises, historic 30th Street Station, and Lincoln Financial Field.
His love for working as an electrician was second to his love and knowledge of the classics. Well versed in the ancient texts, Omiros enjoyed reading and reciting in Ancient Greek.
Many knew Omiros for his kindheartedness and willingness to help others. A rock, we often called on him for guidance during difficult times. He was truly an inspiration, and he will be greatly missed.
Omiros Demetrios was preceded in death by his father, Antonios. He is survived by his mother Niki, his brothers Nicholaos (Carlen), Robert (Stephanie), and Jerry (Justine), his nephews and nieces Antonios, Jason, Sophia, Anthony, Alexander, Leonidas, and Niki.
