Upper Darby, PA – On Monday, May 28th, 2012, Memorial day heated up early but the Veterans of VFW Post 6633 “Eleftheria” showed again. Year after year the time-honored tradition continues.
Many Veterans and families showed in memory of their loved ones at Fernwood Cemetery here at the edge of West Philadelphia where it meets Upper Darby.
Father Nektarios of St. Demetrios performed the service that followed with a two-gun salute.
The ever aging members hugged and shared a group photo and then concluded the day with soft pretzels and soda, a tradition they’ve carried on for many years now.
To all the Veterans out there, we thank you for the sacrifice to our nation.
