Position Announcement
The role of the Saint Demetrios Greek Language School director is to be fully responsible for the operation of the school from registration to curriculum and daily activities.
The individual must make a significant difference in the educational experience of children that are 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Greek-American.
Saint Demetrios Greek Language School is a ministry of the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church located in Upper Darby, PA.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Greece or in the United States.
The individual must be fluent in the Greek language.
Must have a minimum of two years of experience in education including instruction, supervision, and administration of educational programs, and knowledge of curriculum and programmatic development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a leadership position to carry out the school vision and direct all educational aspects including:
Develop and Implement policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budget in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Organizes, oversees, and provides support to the various services, supplies, material, and equipment provided to carry out the school program.
Defines and disseminates information about school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, staff and community.

Greek Language Teachers of all Grades
We are looking for part-time GSL teachers (Tuesday and Friday evening). Teachers are responsible for conducting lessons to young students at all levels (beginner through advanced) in all areas of the Greek language: reading, writing, listening, speaking, and academic skills for Ellinomathia preparation.
Teachers must:
- Be enthusiastic, approachable, and possess a genuine passion for learning and teaching.
- Have excellent record-keeping skills for attendance and grades.
- Possess excellent written and communication skills.
- Be a team player ready to work and thrive in a dynamic workplace.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or have at least 1-year experience teaching GSL.
- Master’s degrees not required but is a plus.
