Upper Darby, PA – Sunday was the unofficial start of the new year at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church. The new board members were sworn in and the Greek school students read off poems in honor of the Three Hierarchs.

Rev. Economos Panagiotis Lekkas was also part of the new year. He recently relocated to St. Demetrios and became it’s spiritual leader. Father Lekkas comes to St. Demetrios from Tenafly NJ, where he served at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint John the Theologian.

He conducted the official ceremony with the new members and then stood with them for a group photo (left to right: George Agatsiotis, John Stergiou, Magda Tsekeris, Mike Vasdoukas, Stavros Stavrakis, Mela Akranis, Mike Economou, Phillipa Nicolaidis, Stefanos Vilirious, Rev.
