Wayne, PA – There was a chill in the air and cloudy skies above, but the St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church parishioners marched on again in support of Cooley’s Anemia. This past Sunday some 100 members met up at Wilson Farm Park in Wayne PA to support, participate, and bring awareness to Thalassemia. People affected with this disease require regular blood transfusions and aggressive management of chronic iron overload, the predominant cause of early death.
The one-mile walk around the park in blue t-shirts that were handed out had people from the community of all ages involved and included a few pets. Lunch and refreshments rounded out the day that united the dedicated members.
