Saint Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church has joined the efforts to support the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation 2015 Care Walk. The walk will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015. The 2015 Care Walk will show all of those with the genetic blood disorder Thalassemia (or Cooley’s Anemia) that many people care.
The funds raised will go towards the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, an organization that helps people meet the challenges of living with this genetic blood disorder. People born with a severe form of Thalassemia need lifelong blood transfusions as often as every two weeks and a daily drug treatment that for many involves pumping a drug into the body for 8-12 hours every night.
