Upper Darby, PA – Three Hierarchs and Greek Letters Day was celebrated at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church on Sunday. From Across the Philadelphia metropolitan area, the Greek Orthodox church came out to participate in the historic day now in it’s 7th year.
The event recognizes three Holy Hierarchs, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. These highly influential bishops of the early church, played pivotal roles in shaping Christian theology and are recognized for bringing Hellenes the Greek letters.
Through poem and song 13 churches in the Metropolitan area of this parish, the children of the Greek schools participated. They also danced regional songs from Greece before concluding with for a photo op with his Eminence, Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey.
