Under cloudy skies today, the Armenian community of the Greater Philadelphia area gathered at the Art museum in Philadelphia to commemorate the Armenian Genocide. It was the 97th anniversary of the Genocide and the 5th time that the Philadelphia community had come together to honor those that have perished under the Ottoman empire from 1915-1918.

Titled, “Walk the Walk, Talk the Talk”, more than 300 people marched from the Art Museum through center city Philadelphia to Christ Church in Old city, for an event that included music, dance and a key not speech given by Dr. Taner Akçam, Ph.D. at Clark college. Dr. Taner Akçam also took part in the march and then spoke to the Armenian community. Dr. Akçam has published and lectured extensively on Turkish genocide and has just release his new book, “The young Turks’ Crime Against Humanity: The Armenian Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing in the Ottoman Empire. ” For more information this event, please visit: www.armeniangenocidewalk.com/
