Constantine (Gus) Avgerinos passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 17th, 2016.

Gus is survived by his wife Niki, his children, Evan (Mary), Don (Helen), his grandchildren Dean, Perry, Niki, Markos, and Alexander, his sister Sophia Tombros, and many nephews, and nieces. He is predeceased by his father Evan, mother Lucy, brother Spiros, sister Eleni Riganas. He met his childhood sweetheart Niki when she was 16, and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Gus was born March 10th, 1937 on the island of Corfu, Greece and came over to the U.S. in 1959 where he started work as a photographer in Boston where his grandfather had lived, and then quickly enrolled in the U.S. Army where he earned the Expert badge and sharpshooter medals for the M-1 rifle. After an honorable discharge, he co-owned a restaurant in center city Philadelphia, and thereafter bought his own successful restaurant on the Main Line (The Conestoga Mill), and eventually sold it and retired in 1990.

He was a long-time member of the St. George Cathedral in Philadelphia, serving many years as board president, and additionally served as president of the St. George Senior House, a facility that provides affordable housing for seniors.

Gus was most proud being a father, grandfather, and loving husband who enjoyed mostly spending time with his family raising and nurturing all of his loved ones. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

His funeral service will be 10 am, Wednesday, November 23rd at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church 900 S. Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA 19403. Father Peter J. Thornberg will be the celebrant. Interment at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park, and a celebration luncheon to be held thereafter at Maggiano’s in King of Prussia, PA.

All friends, family, and those who knew him are invited to attend.
