John P. Maneos, 94, of Newark, DE, died on April 29, 2015. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Peter and Anastasia Spengos Maneos. John lived in Chester and Brookhaven before moving to his late residence two years ago.

He served in the US Army during WWII and received the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal W/5 Bronze Stars. John was a member of the VFW Post 1521 in Chester, PA. He was self-employed as a barber at John’s Barbershop for 30 years and belonged to the American Master Barbers’ Association. John was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and served on the Church Council. He enjoyed writing and in his later years, kept a journal.

John was the beloved husband of the late Frieda Nicolaides Maneos, his wife of 57 years, who died on Oct. 11, 2003 and father of the late Peter Maneos (Maria).

Survivors: father of Theresa Katsis (Stavros), Anastasia Thorp (Steven) and Paul Maneos; grandfather of Maria Maneos, Constance Ballas and Peter Maneos; and great grandfather of John Maneos and Arianna Maneos

Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Road, Media, PA 19063 (Middletown Twp.) where friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday and after 10:00 AM on Wednesday.

Burial: Chester Rural Cemetery
