Hats off to the new champs, “Tune Squad”, for taking the crown at the summer PGBL (Philadelphia Greek Basketball league) tournament. They were led by local rising star Niko Balis who played for the Wolfpack during the regular season. They took on“The Bridge” last years champs on Saturday, and pulled out an overtime victory advancing them to Sunday.

The Trenton EuroStars get a big thumbs up for their relentless effort. They were plagued with several injuries and fatigue that got the best of them in their hard fought loss in the championship game against “Tune Squad”.

The competition for the championship has become increasingly tougher and has drawn teams from two major metropolitan areas. Teams representing Lancaster, PA, to Brooklyn NY, not to mention Trenton New Jersey participated in the weekend affair. Some, 120 players flooded in to Renegades gym to compete for the PGBL title, which is now in it’s second year. It has become a symbol of recognition for basketball enthusiasts in both these regions.

We want to be a year round organization, say’s Co-founder, John Vasiliou. The PGBL brand continues to grow and build momentum as a year round organization. It sponsors a basketball league, is a foundation for those less fortunate and has two summer sports tournament, which include golf and basketball.
