May 9th, 2013, Broomall, Pa. – The Greek Orthodox ladies Philoptochos Society of St. Luke (chapter 1082) hosted it’s annual Bid ‘N’ Buy this past week. The theme was a “Lantern Festival” which covered the gym in a colorful display of Asian lanterns and saw many of the ladies dressed in Japanese Kimonos.
Hundreds of business’ from around the Delaware Valley donated everything from gift certificates to jewelry for the evenings fundraiser which brought more than 300 mostly women together. Many of the men of the parish, took on the role of servers and held down the kitchen serving dinner, which included Pastichio and Spanakopita.
The annual fundraiser distributes funds to a variety of charities and helps fund St. Luke programs.
