Middletown, PA – Dancing, food, music, and the aromas of Greece made this Greek festival stand out this fall. It’s called A Taste of Greece, and it’s going on all weekend long at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

We tried the Loukoumades and a traditional Greek gyro on Friday night, which really is just that. Made the old-fashioned way, it’s sliced just like they do in Greece, from an actual gyro and then wrapped, rolled in pita bread, and garnished with all the fixings. We also got to try the Lamb shank. Perfectly prepared, it fell off the bone and left us wanting more. But you better rush in early and place your orders for this, because it won’t last long. The lines at St. George are at a record this year.

Ever since they moved the festival entirely outdoors, it’s been a hit with the community. They’ve even added fire pits around the campus. And folk dancing from the youth group is back. It makes this festival a perfect place for a night out under the stars or for lunch. You can order your food online at tasteofgreece.net or stop by and enjoy the scenery while the parishioners of St. George treat you to a great meal.
