Cherry Hill, NJ – If you own a diner and live in South Jersey, there’s a good chance you’re from the Corthion region of the Island of Andros. In the early 60’s many of them immigrated to South Jersey and rooted themselves in the area.
The Corthion Andros Society of New Jersey hosted their 52 annual dance this past Saturday night at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church and brought what seemed like all of them together. After nearly twelve years without hosting a dance, the community gathered to celebrate their Island roots.
Two addition Andros societies joined in the celebration. They were the Andros Society of USA (NY) and The New Agios Panteleimon of Andros Society (North Jersey). The evening featured music by Sevoula Zagoreou and the band Thalassa.
