Valley Forge, PA – With plenty to do, eat, and see, the place all of us should have been at this weekend, was St. Sophia Greek Orthodox church. The end of summer Grecian Festival was hosted on the grounds of the church. Hellenes and Philhellenes alike were out sharing a meal and reflecting on the summer.
St. Sophia’s parishioners didn’t seem to mind the heat wave. They kept smiling while they cooked and serviced their annual event. Their new Byzantine church sits center stage of the grounds as a wonderful backdrop as you enjoyed the day. Folk dancing was performed by its younger parishioners, who doubled as volunteers serving you Greek delicacies and coffee.
When evening came the grounds were lit up by games and rides on the field adjacent to the parking grounds. Inside St. Sophia, tours were conducted of their Byzantine Orthodox church which featured iconography which is constantly being updated.
