Christ Pantelis passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife Niovi, adoring children Vassiliki, Peter, and Elaine (Peter Christie), cherished grandchildren Elizabeth, Kristine, Georgine, Stephen, Jaclyn and Peter and his great grandchildren Andrew, Ava, and Niko. Survived by his siblings Stella, Haralambos, Maroulla and Andreas and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Anthousa, Phillip, Nico, George, and Vassos.

Chris’ devotion and love of his Greek Orthodox faith were the backbones of his life. He began and ended each day with a prayer to the God he so loved. Having almost died in a storm on his voyage to America, Chris prayed for his safe arrival and promised to honor the Virgin Mother.

Arriving in this country from Cyprus in 1949, Chris began a journey which would start in Bayonne, NJ and end in Broomall, PA. Not knowing the English language and with little money, he was able to provide the life for his family that he was seeking when he immigrated to America.

Starting out washing dishes in a diner in Bayonne, Chris’ work ethic and dedication paved the way for him to become a successful business owner. Never one to complain, he continued putting in 15 hour work days until he retired at the young age of 72. His work principles and love of his faith continued through his retirement when he moved to Broomall, PA. He became active in helping prepare food for the various festivals at the Greek Orthodox churches for the next 10 years and always remembered to honor his vow to God that he made upon arriving in America.
