Philadelphia, PA – It was a busy and successful weekend this year at the Evangelismos Greek Festival. Bustleton Avenue was bustling all weekend long with guests from around the community and the Delaware Valley that heard about the authentic and tasty Greek food this community has come to be known by.
The blue and white covered church parishioners worked tirelessly for four days serving up fresh, homemade Greek food. Inside the church parishioners cut, peeled and layered everything from Spanakopita to grape leaves. While on the spit, tradition Kontosouvli and gyros were served.
Between the two tents, the dance floor featured the Greek school performing traditional dances. Then on Saturday evening, the Pontian Akritai of Philadelphia put on a special performance that brought down the house.
Live music filled the air as the square tents filled with capacity. The food lines wrapped around the church for hours on Saturday evening. By Sunday mid afternoon, the Greek pastries were sold out, making this as we said, the most successful Greek Festival in years for Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church.
