Asbury Park, NJ – This Sunday the 21st of September 2014, it all happens again, the annual blessing of the waters. Thousands of Greek Orthodox members (from NJ, PA, NY, DE) will witness the rustic and historic event along the shores of the Atlantic (seaside town/ Asbury Park).
Led by Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey, young men and women will charge into the ocean, in hopes of retrieving a wooden cross.Family members and friends will look on and cheer as the Greek Orthodox youth carry on this tradition that began more than 65 years ago.

The day will start with a Divine Liturgy service and short memorial service for the late Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras at the Paramount Theater and Convention center.
