Pennsauken, NJ – The Philadelphia Federation of Hellenic Societies celebrated the new year at the Icarian club house this week. The event was highlighted by a traditional Vasilopita cutting which was performed by Father Nektarios of St. Demetrios church in Upper Darby.

The Federation announced that March 23, 2014, Greek Independence day would be celebrated on the Philadelphia parkway this year. The federation discussed the logistics of the event and officially announced that the honorable Rob Andrews, first congressional district of New Jersey would be the grand marshall. Joanne Saltas, Grand president of the Daughters of Penelope and Supreme President of the order of AHEPA’s Anthony Kouzounis both will share duties as honorary marshals.
