The Annual Gala hosted by Hellenic Hearts honored John S. Koudounis at the Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square, PA. The event celebrated the organization’s dedication to supporting education, preserving Hellenic heritage, and helping those in need.
The evening kicked off with a reception cocktail hour, bringing together guests from the Delaware Valley and beyond. John Aivazoglou, President of Hellenic Hearts, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, while board member Louie Karapanagiotides also addressed the guests.
Drake G. Behrakis and Mike Manatos, previous recipients of the esteemed Philotimo Award, shared their thoughts on Hellenic Hearts’ impact. A short film introduced this year’s honoree, John S. Koudounis, the CEO of Calamos Investments.
The focal point of the night was the presentation of the Philotimo Award to Koudounis, embodying the spirit of Philotimo (love of honor). Drake G. Behrakis, Chair of the National Hellenic Society and last year’s honoree presented the award to Koudounis, creating a touching moment that inspired attendees to continue their positive impact on their communities.
Following the award presentation, Koudounis expressed his gratitude to Hellenic Hearts and the community. The annual Gala raised funds for various causes, including The Filodoxia Scholar Program, Emergency Aid, Hellenic College Holy Cross, the National Hellenic Society, and the Oxi Day Foundation, highlighting the event’s wide-ranging impact.
The event attracted distinguished individuals from the Greek-American community, united in their steadfast commitment to philanthropy and service, reflecting the strength and unity of the community.
