On Tuesday, the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley held its annual elections for the 2024-2025 year at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, PA. The event marked a significant milestone as Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Easton, Pennsylvania, represented by Kosta Karaminas, joined the Federation’s ranks, highlighting the community’s unwavering commitment to preserving their cherished heritage.

The elections were a remarkable success, with several new community members joining the Board of Directors. Newly elected President Harry Karapalides, a seasoned leader who served as Vice President for the last two years, and newly elected Vice President John Vasiliou, a dedicated member of the Federation’s board, were introduced amidst great anticipation for the future.

Outgoing President Georgia Chletcos graciously thanked the members and board for their tireless work throughout her two-year tenure, setting the stage for a seamless transition of leadership. This changing of the guard, a testament to the community’s dedication, has ignited a resurgence of optimism within the community, reigniting the passion for preserving and promoting the treasured Hellenic culture in the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area.
