Cherry Hill, NJ – The Cosmos Philly team crossed the Delaware river border and traveled to St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church for a “South of the Border” themed Bid ‘n’ buy on Wednesday evening. The annual event, now it’s 36th year, was sponsored by the members of the St. Irene Ladies Philoptochos Society. The event raises funds for families in need and a variety of charities.
The monies also go to the Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Autism and St. Basils Academy. The organizations meets the second tuesday of every month and encourages those interested in being part of the national organization to come to a meeting.
The Mexican consulate had two representatives present at the event and donated aprons that parish members wore as they worked, serving food, working the ticket lines and welcoming guests. The food was served by parish member men wearing sombreros while some of the younger church member men served margaritas and sangrias that seemed to bring smiles throughout the evening.
