Philadelphia, PA – The students of Evangelismos of Theotokos presented their March 25th poems this past Sunday. Together with their teachers, Maria Houvardas, Zonivia Plytas, Liza Karakasidis and teacher/principal Agnes Zidros, they showcased their dedication to the Greek language and culture.

Poems and songs focused on the Greek liberation from Ottoman Rule in 1821 but also on the celebration of the Evangelismos of Theotokos; when the Angel of God brought news to Mary that she was to give birth to the Saviour. The program closed with traditional Greek dances under the direction of the dance teacher, Liza Karakasidis.

The students that range from grades K-6 showed proudly that this small school in the heart of Northeast Philadelphia is dedicated to an enriched language curriculum. If you are interested in enrollment, please contact EvangelismosGreekSchool@gmail.com.
