The Pontian Society of Philadelphia Akritai is hosting its 77th Annual Dance at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby. The event will feature singers Stathis Pavlidis and Giannis Gavrilidis from Greece.
Original Pontian folk dancing will be performed by the Akritai dance troupe. Various musicians, including Christos Tiktakpanidis on lyra, Vasilis Tekeoglou, and Giannis Tataridis on clarino, Babis Almazidis on daouli and Kostas Fetfatsidis on aggeio will also be present. Seizmos Music will introduce the evening.
The traditional event is hosting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving and is the biggest Pontian dance in North America. Guests from all over the nation as well as locally attend.
