St. Sophia’s GOYA, The Message Is Giving

The message was simple: giving. At St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, the GOYA youth group, under the direction of John Pogas, has embraced this idea and woven it into the heart of its activities. Every month, members come together to prepare a meal for those in need — a tradition that continues to grow and take root in the Greek community, especially at St. Sophia.

On this occasion, the GOYA prepared a chicken casserole that fed about 50 people. The meal was delivered the next day to a soup kitchen called MANNA on Main Street in Lansdale, PA.

Each month, the GOYA gathers not only to share their faith but also to take part in activities that strengthen their sense of stewardship and service. Their focus is on giving back — both to their parish and to the wider community.
