May 31, 2013, Philadelphia – The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia hosted it’s annual scholarship Awards event this past Friday evening. Some $40,000.00 dollars were given out to 16 recipients in a variety of areas. Following the keynote address given by James M. Yannopoulos PsyD, 11 undergraduate and 5 Graduate scholarship awards were presented.
From its inception in 1936, the members of the Hellenic Unviersity Club set a goal of establishing a scholarship program to assist worthy Greek-American students. In 1939, the first annual scholarship was awarded. Since 1971, the Club has awrded over $500,000 to more than 250 deserving students.
