Cherry Hill, NJ – Curbside or drive through the folks as St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church made sure you got your Greek food hot, fresh, and on time. Known for their annual Agora Festival, the parishioners decided this spring to add a fast-food-style three-day treat.

With the cooking being done on outdoor grills, the campus became a drive-around or sidewalk pickup. The church’s youth played a critical role, running out the street deliveries for those that ordered online. Runners with shopping bags went back and forth to Mercer street, where cars stopped briefly. The response was all smiles from the Greek food fans. “I’ve been coming here for years. I love what they do, and their food is the best”, said one driver.

On one side of the church, campus guests pulled in and gave their orders and then took the loop around to the other side, where the aromas of grilled food were being cooked while they waited. Gyros, souvlaki, and loukoumades were being made fresh while customers eagerly looked on from their cars. Add a little Greek music in the background, and the mini Greek festival concept was a hit.

Additional items on the menu included pastitsio, moussaka, spanakopita, and tyropita. We loved the freshly made loukoumades that we sampled. If you’re in South Jersey this weekend, we recommend that you stop in and get your Greek food on.
